The well written novel is about finding your personality and getting through rough times and Dodie Smith has sent that message clearly to his readers. As if this isn’t trouble enough, their father -who was once a very popular author- has gone mad and only comes out of his special room for food on the odd occasion, causing another set of problems for Cassandra. Her older sisters main goal is to find a wealthy husband who will give her luxuries and an amazing place to live, however when Cassandra finds herself developing feelings for her possible future brother-in-law things become a little bit complicated. The novel is written through her own perspective, in the style of her journal. It is about a young girl called Cassandra that lives in an abandoned castle with her sister, Dad and her step-mother. ‘I capture the castle’ is quite an old book written by Dodie Smith but is rewritten in modern English language.
